Delco Symphony-fragment-aft go gang

Fragments The reason I call this Fragments is that this was intended to be an eight Poem cycle, one for each of the new compositions I heard and liked at the Delco Symphony Feb Concert.  However, time and non-inspiration intervened, along with the rest of my life, the best of my life?  Anyway, a much better Poet than myself said “the best-laid plans of ,ice and men aft go gang.

Here’s what I did write and the composer.

Someday, I will find the program and write the rest. or not.

 

Delco Symphony 2-10-13

 

Tryptich                                           Merri Lee Newby

 

Movement 1

This was a courtyard visited

carrying me back to a time before time

in times of kings, earls, dukes

when swords meant something

as did words

 

Movement 2

 

Two ancients

with more years in the rear view

than many have in their vision

dancing slowly yet wildly

into the sea, into the sea

 

 

 

 

Movement 3

 

Walking singly home in twilight

through the quietest of streets

as though all was Swarthmore

closing at 8pm promptly

except on Friday, when its 9

He is currently focused on writing a Novel and organizing his Poetry, which he posts on his Blog (Bob Small1). He is retired from most of the above activities, except Delco Debates and Poets and Prophets, which he may return to.
