Banhof-Altona end of the line
It might of been the 4, 5, or 6
we were barely German speaking visitors
on our way for the first time
for the first time
on a Hamburg bus alone Hamburg bus alone
In some ways
In some ways
we could of been in New York, Philly, or Terry Haute
everyone in their self-contained cubicle
reading books or tablets or staring at neighbours
reading books or papers or staring at neighbours
We were barely un noticed
till someone heard us English
till someone heard us english
we knew we were on the right bus
but were grateful anyhow
but were full of thank yous anyhow
and eventually before we got to the end
before we got to the end
I sat and looked out with energy
as though I might never see this street again
Coda-
Might never see this street again
these faces rushing to and fro, fro and to
on bikes as peds skateborders and
skateborders and
Might never be this time again
with the right woman next
