Banhof Altona getting off the bus
There is only one first time
in life
first day in school
first love
first heartbreak
first drink
first last drink
There is only one first time in life
seeing the mass humanity leaving buses trains
dropped off from cars and cycles
walking there walking there
There is only one first time in life
first poem
first poem torn up
first time you realize who you are
first time you are comfortable with who you are
if ever
first time you stop and breathe and
say yes! today!
this air will never come again
First time in Banhof Altona
Buskers singing in German
walkers smoking in German
streeters asking/demanding in German
violins heard in German
sounds! sounds! sounds!
There is only one first time
when you let yourself accept yourself
when you fall in love with the day
with the wife the husband
the other who you have let become significant
the day you embrace alone
getting off the bus
walking to the bar we would later return to
for burnt pig breakfast
the all everything store we would soon return to
all the vendors all the smokers
all the street life
no different
yet
not
the
same
There is only one first time in life
