May you also and the story behind this Poem

Briefly, Chan Horn, an old friend of both of us,

asked me to write a Poem for

her wedding celebration today.

She recently married John Sweeney.

The Poem was read by me at

Ocean City Restaurant,

where the dim sum wedding celebration occurred.

We’re nearing decade two of our marriage
almost decade three of together being
that doesn’t mean we know …anything
maybe it means we know what not to say… sometimes

maybe it means we know what not to say .. sometimes
words, easily given, are hard to retrieve
words, easily given,
are we the same now as we were then

are we the same now as we were then
no, nor should we be, we have both grown
we have both grown together and ourselves
together and ourselves, that’s what being in couple does

that’s what being in couple does, call this love?
Love or something very close
Love or something very close
