The half marathon and other issues

The half marathon and other issues

It was another dreammare form another night time

I was running for the track team of the college I dropped

out of on the half marathon team

I finished third

Can’t even finish first in my dreams

Maybe this dream was saying that

I’m halfway through my life

at 66 that sounds marvelous not toxic

marvelous not toxic at the college

I thought I could drop acid and get through

get through there’s still a few weeks

I don’t know what happened

though I think someone’s nerves break down

I think someone’s nerves break down

who knows where I was and does it matter now

does it matter now not to know over twoscore years later

did my roommate really want the room to himself so much

that something else was slipped in my drink

years later when we met on the streets in Philly

he saw a ghost and a smiling one at that

There were so many times I should of met death

I tried suicide by drugs suicide by alcohol suicide by lovers-

he wanted to ask me why I was still alive

but I didn’t have time I didn’t have time-

I had a very important Poetry Reading to go to-
