Dreamers #3 To Maralyn lois Polak

Have been reviewing my 1980’s Bacchanal related work for

a possible project.

Most of these will be from the 1980’s

Dreamers #3 To Maralyn Lois Polak

You deserve a clean sheet of paper
a book of dreams
brought to you by the man of your dreams, and-lately your nights have been marred by
nightmare men
knights in shining horror
with knights and nights like these better you should have days-

let me start again
You deserve a clean sheet of paper
a clean well-lit room with
a clean well-lit man
who is as lit and literate as you
as scintilate as you
as invertebrate as you
he should have the body of Sylvester Stallone and
the mind of Truman Capote
why have you ended up with the reverse, the perverse
You deserve a clean sheet of paper
for writing so much of the world’s dance
ro mance and
fools to chance
and surviving the nights that became knives
and surviving the nights that became knives
still possessing a laugh, the words
and none the worse for wear
wearing the world, not
letting the world wear you down
down to the empty stone
used to mark endings
