When you called
I almost forgot
how deep the river was between us
when you threatened me
with something that wasn’t love
but sure wasn’t yesterday
and like I always do
found the right words to say
kinda like Fuck You, Bitch?
ahh, and all this time
I thought I wan’t even a memory to you now you wanta rewrite hictcry
say I never meant to you
sure, we had a love-hate
re late
I loved you
you hated me
but, hey
who spent one July day toiling in your garden
’cause it sure was you who called me
at bright dawn
didn’t I shake off the whiskey and hey,
didn’t you call me to come
and hold you from the demons
and, didn’t I come
and spend a few nights
just holding
nothing more
and wasn’t I crazy to come
after you ‘put your fists on Ine
hot tea, thrown quite qell actually
(you said it was only warm. Details, details.
screams, and desiring to do much more
and, yeah
when you didn’t want to use me no more
and 1 was still hungry in my obsession
didn’t it take ’bout three months
‘fore I gave you silence
now you’re saying this is all just a false rumor love, and I still do
there was once a time””’
here was once a dream
it may have been mostly mine
and mostly crime, and mostly blind,
but, hey
when a tree becomes the paper we write our Poems
on does it mean the tree
never was?
