About Early Sunday Night
Two for Paula
About Early Sunday Night
If that wasn’t heaven
why am I hearing bells
why am I singing songs
new to this world
if that wasn’t heaven
In the halls of Paula
There are times I love you beyond the meaning of words
to ecstasy’s door and then in
side and don’t get my promises on tape
(Where’s Rose Mary Woods when I need her?)*
but there are times when I love you beyond meaning
when the only words available emerge as a scream
What is the colour of love? the numbers?
What does it say in the dictionary? Can you
say it in Polish? Does it have to with hair, legs, lips,
toes, or thighs? Can you measure it? How much does it weigh?
Are there alternatives or antidotes? Is it fatal? Does it have a
taste all it’s own? Is it anything like dreams? Or drachmas?
When is the expiration date? And where is that written?
I don’t know how to say what I’m saying.
That never stopped me.
Let me say the darkness has lifted once again
and you were there
and the only place I ever want to be
