The Wintering This Year-Untitled Nivi Shresta

The Wintering this year

PAFA Art Student show seen on Feb 15th and other times

Note; I listed these as Ugly Poems and some of them rather are.

Nivi Shresta

The scaffolding in the tenement.

Is the Landlord improving his property

because Art Students living there

have driven up the value

so they and other malingerers can be

driven out

so the young urban professionals

can park their wagons there

their station wagons there

settle the land

formerly inhabited by savage

art students

not even a treaty to violate

these ur ban

home steaders

just like on South Street

and many other streets

are seeking a better life

in new frontiers

Or is the Landlord doing this

after the walls collapsed

and there were a few injuries,

none serious,

but the newspapers, you know-

the concepts of property

a right to live

and a right to a living

and it’s not like life on a street is all that bad,

after all,

there’s nothing that,

after a while,

a person can’t get used to
