Entering the world of the Duets
12-23-82(12-17-82) is the date of the first of these and they continued being written through 1983. The purpose of these was to create reasons to be around a certain Blonde Lady (I have a propensity for blondes and this was my first one). She was also from the midwest which was another propensity. I wrote these so we could perform these at Poetry Readings after which we would end up at her house and??. And often didn’t happen but a number of these were created anyhow and performed and rehearsed.

I have a Jack W listed, though don’t remember him,
I guess I only remember the women.
This group later evolved into Popular Neurotics.
Popular Neurotics, like the Duets, consisted of works which were written by me, or others, and then workshopped into the finished form during rehearsals.
Some of these rehearsals had more action than the Playets,

Part of scanning these and putting them on WordPress is so that I can dump all the original papers they are written on. Unlike Poems, they would be eligible for Play competitions, as most Play Competitions (the ones I’ve seen) don’t necessarily preclude publication (though a Blog with 13 followers really should not count as publication anymore than a Poem read to maybe six half dazed audience members at a bar should count-)
Possibly I can dump some of these memories, too, but will choose to retain others.

At this time, I was employed and living alone on S. 12th St, back when it was still S. 12th Street (pre-yuppification) and I had already found myself as an organizer. It would be another five years before I would find sobriety.

PS The Blonde I speak of still stays in touch, occasionally, on Social Media. We do not speak of any past we have which is the way social media works with me and previous girlfriends. We both feel we ended up in good relationships, both with others and ourselves. She hasn’t lost her looks. She is very involved with positive activism.
