The Last Parade
This is the last parade
of words
of how I’m lonely, and miserable, and ,Mars needs women
and I do, too
This is the last parade
of self-pity phrases
garbage verse
songs to be sung in an alley
when one is terribly alone
when one is terrible
when one is
but feels that
one isn’t
_____________________
This is the last parade
I’ll march myself down
one more tune
one more fife
more bungle and drum
hey, I might be alive for another fifty years
what do I care if I’m alone
in my parade
___________________
This is
the last parade
let me talk
of wars, and knives
of blood on cement
and subway steps
and 1st
breaths
of un known men
that is
what we’re all here for,
isn’t it
not some damn
dumb
cha rade pa rade
