Too many teardrops for one heart to be crying
From ? And the Mysterians 1966 96 tears
May have been the inspiration for the term “punk rock”
depending which Internet site you cite.
PECO to murder 96 Swarthmore Trees For Towers
One day you wake up
and all the trees are gone
gone like in no longer there
the street still there
the sidewalk still there
trees gone like in yesterday
One Swarthmore Day you wake up
and we’ve become “sidewalk city”
lots of “concrete blondes” and
“sidewalk venuses” and
“tower blokes” and “stoplight children”
“Daddy, what were trees”
was there at least part of the time
none of those feelings are ever coming back again
which ones I would want
but we did have trees then, we did have trees
